What is Dance in the City?

Dance in the City is a limited editorial portrait series for dancers. Each session is built around you — your movement, your style, and a city location chosen to complement both. The result is photographs that feel cinematic, personal, and unlike anything you'd get in a studio.

How long is a session?

Sessions run 2–3 hours. That gives us enough time to move between locations, try different light, and let you settle into the camera without feeling rushed.

How many photos will I receive?

You'll receive a curated selection of fully edited, high-resolution images — typically between 20 and 40 photographs depending on the session. Every image is treated like a magazine spread, not a contact sheet.

When will I receive my photos?

Edited images are delivered within 3 weeks of your session via a private online gallery.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring whatever you move in. Multiple outfits are welcome — we'll plan changes around the locations. Pointe shoes, trainers, bare feet: all of it works. If you're unsure, we'll talk it through before the session.

Which cities do you shoot in?

Currently booking sessions in Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Amersfoort. Each city offers a completely different visual language — canals and golden bridges, cathedral shadows and cobblestones, medieval walls and quiet waterways.

Who chooses the location?

Whitney scouts and selects locations based on your movement style, the mood you want, and the light available on your session date. You'll know where you're going before the day — no surprises.

What happens if it rains?

Rain is often beautiful. Wet cobblestones, reflections, dramatic skies — some of the best sessions happen in overcast or rainy conditions. If the weather is genuinely unworkable, we'll reschedule at no cost.

How do I book?

Fill in the enquiry form on the Book page. Whitney personally reads every message and will be in touch within 48 hours to discuss your session, your city, and your vision.

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

Sessions are limited by design — only a handful per city, per season. Booking 4–6 weeks in advance is recommended, especially for summer and autumn.

Is a deposit required?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a deposit is required to secure your session date. Full details are shared during the booking conversation.
